2026 Thomas Wolfe Short Story Book Club
at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial in downtown Asheville, North Carolina

Stay tuned for details as we explore three great Thomas Wolfe short stories that parallel and reinforce Wilma Dykeman's three core values:
January 8: "Fame and the Poet" through the lens of The Power of the Written and Spoken Word
February 12: "His Father's Earth" through the lens of Environmental Integrity
March 12: "The Child by Tiger" through the lens of Social Justice. This is THomas Wolfe's account of a mass shooting and subsequent lynching that occurred in downtown Asheville in 1906. It is a direct exploration of the human heart with regard to race during the Jim Crow era.
